Veteran broadcaster attacked, robbed

Veteran broadcaster Farook Juman fought off three bandits who attacked and robbed him late Monday evening while he was heading home. The incident occurred around 23:00h at Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice.
Guyana Times understands that the entire ordeal lasted about 20 minutes during which Juman and the bandits had a prolonged scuffle. While Juman sustained injuries at the hands of the men, he also dealt out blows, damaging the face of one of the men.
Juman related to this newspaper that he was at an event on Monday evening and left around 23:00h. He was later attacked on the Williamsburg Access Road. The broadcaster said that he was a few yards away from the event he had emceed and while he was at a dark spot, he was attacked from behind.
He claimed that one of the men held onto him and placed a weapon to his neck. Juman said initially he thought it was one of his friends joking around, but he realised it was serious when the man ordered him to hand over his belongings.

Juman said he was not intimidated by the situation, but was thinking how he could get out unharmed. He said he held onto to the hand that was choking him to slacken its grip and managed to free himself by twisting the hand, causing the man to drop the weapon.

Thats a cool journalist, he didn't roll over and be a victim, good for him

I wonder if those thugs attacked the journalist for some other reason.
I'm not one of those conspiracy theory nuts but I wonder. Was he attacked for his views?

This broadcaster was very brave. I know I wouldn't have the courage to fight 3 attackers at once. Unfortunately my reality is living in a country with lenient gun laws. So this means if 3 people are about to attack me, there is a 98% chance one of them will have a gun. No where in this world is someone 100% safe from danger of any kind. That kind of idealistic palace doesn't exist unless someone owns their own island. I'm glad to read the broadcaster is okay because I have read too many instances of similar situations ending tragically.
