Thanks but no thanks: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he won’t attend a Washington Redskins game until the football team changes its name. In a letter to team president Bruce Allen, Reid rejected Allen’s invitation to attend a home game. It’s the latest chapter in a battle over the team’s name, which most Democratic senators have sought to change. The Washington Examiner has more about Reid’s letter, including the text, which states: “I will not stand idly by while a professional sports team promotes a racial slur as a team name and disparages the American people.”

Yeah , someone objected to my use of Buckman for native amerindians  in Guyana.

Well that is admirable of Senator Reid. Not to be a cynic because I do agree a racial slur should have never represented that team in the first place, why now do the Senator have a conscious? The Washington Redskins have been around a long time and Senator Reid has been in government for quite awhile. I feel some things should be common sense. The Redskins was always a derogatory name used for Native Americans. For the life of me I can't understand the strong resistance from the team's owner to even consider changing the name. The owner acts as if history will be alter if he caves to pressure and do the right thing. Last, like most American politicians Senator Reid is likely doing this for political points because of the major mid-term elections coming up later this year.

You know how these politicians are, they are only concerned about image when people are looking (and even then, not always).
