Kobe Bryant is MIA, but the Lakers are planning to offer Carmelo Anthony a four-year, $97-million contract after meeting on Thursday. Anthony, a star for the New York Knicks, was courted with the maximum amount teams can offer in a star-studded presentation. He has also met with the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls, and Knicks this week. The Lakers view Anthony as a way to get them back into a championship contender.

He's a great player, but hes not a very good team player. He's a selfish star and I can't help but wonder if the Knicks wouldn't be better off without him. Maybe its better to free up is already huge salary for someone else who meshes well with the team. Remember you can't build a franchise around a single player, basketball is a TEAM sport, and the Knicks need team players.

That's incredible news! Melo is totally washed up, was washed up even 5 season ago, and his best chance at a championship was with the Nuggets. He will be a non-factor for the Lakers and continue his ball hogging, poor defense, me-first playing style. And clean the Lakers franchise out of another $50 or $60 million. LOVE this move.

The Lakers have to make up for lost revenue. If Anthony can sell tickets then more power to them.
Where did Kobe go?

He's a great player, so i can say that he's good for it. He's stable, keeps himself out of the media's eyes and he's got it together. I think its a good deal, but that's his decision to make on if he just wants to walk out on the team he's in now.

Dont think he is worth that sort of money.
Crazy amount we are talking here. Probably should of looked elsewhere instead.
Hope they can make it back.

Carmelo Anthony is a good player but I don't know if he will be good for the Lakers. I have always supported the Lakers team and the last time they tried to go with a big name player in Dwight Howard, it was a disaster. We will just have to wait and see how he and Kobe will play together if he indeed signs with the Lakers.

Anyone who knows LeBron well knows his decision will be made by him alone, not by Rich Paul, Maverick Carter or Pat Riley.
