then christianity played its part with their jackass, idiotic and truly backward doctrine and practices.  they outlawed all public nudity which meant the banning of the public baths that the early roman empire learned from Africa...their public hygienic purpose and built them into their empire.  the catholic church killed that while swaddling up the body in clothes to hide it lest men and women be tempted by the flesh.

stinking unwashed bodies, swaddled in dirty clothing was an ideal home for the fleas, off infected rats that vectored the plague into humans.  religious belief and practice became a death certificate for the european people.

some knew the cure which was simple.. lance the boils that appeared on the bodies of those infected, then rest and nourishment for the body so that it could fend off the infection..in addition general cleanliness and personal hygiene, which included regular washing of clothing.

but the church recommended and practised bleeding of the infected which weakened them and hastened death.  to practice anything but 'bleeding' was regarded as witchcraft and could result in burning at the stake.

so some knew what was to be done but could do so only opposed to the church and at the risk of their lives.

the Black death can be properly regarded as a self-inflicted and deliberate, intended effect on itself by europe and nothing less.  the way it is presented in that vid is wrong, propaganda..as if it was a natural, wholly unavoidable event.  nothing cud be further from the truth
