Israel and Palestinian groups have agreed to a 72-hour humanitarian truce in Gaza, officials say.
The ceasefire will start at 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT) on Tuesday.
Israel held its own seven-hour "humanitarian window" in Gaza on Monday but then resumed its military operations.
Health officials in Gaza say more than 1,800 Palestinians have been killed in the four-week conflict, which has also claimed 67 Israeli lives.
A Thai national working in Israel was also killed.

It won't last for long. Too much blood has been shed and I don't see Hamas backing down. Israel has the military muscle and global cooperation from world leaders who invested heavily into this country. I see Israel going full force into a war to finally eliminate Palestine altogether. And why not? When you have powerful governments like the USA constantly putting money into your pocket, you have nothing to lose.

It is a bit naive to believe that Hamas has the best interests of Palestine at heart. They seem to excel at provoking Israel until there is a response such as the current bloodbath in Gaza. They certainly aren't negotiators. It would be heartening to see Israel standing down and inviting relief workers into Gaza during this "ceasefire"There are too many itchy trigger fingers right now for any kind of truce to last.

If only we could beam both sides to Mars where they could annihilate each other to their hearts content on that planet and leave the rest of humanity here on earth alone.
