President Obama states African nations need to take responsibility for their actions and not blame colonialism for anything at an African Summit hosted in Washington D.C. 2 weeks ago. I don't really agree with the President on this remark. I understand the concept of people having to work for concrete success and to move the nation out of poverty. I get the political leaders within these countries who are responsible for shaping legislation and implementing them for their citizens. What I found unfortunate is the massive influence western nations still have in terms of political interest in Africa's natural resources. The history behind colonialism is deep and not something to dismiss as a "past occurrence." What are your thoughts?
