(Trinidad Express) The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2014 has been passed.
A vote was taken at 4a.m in Parliament yesterday, following debate which began on Monday morning. Twenty three members voted for the bill, 14 against, and there was one abstention. Congress of the People Members of Parliament Winston Dookeran and Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan voted against the Bill, and COP MP Rodger Samuel abstained, when called upon to vote. The COP is a member of the Peoples Partnership government. When debate began in Parliament at Tower D, International Waterfront, Port of Spain on Monday, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said she was allowing Government members to vote according to conscience, and released them from the doctrine of collective responsibility.
The Bill contains provisions for a two term limit for a Prime Minister, right to recall and a second ballot run-off.

Listen fool Kamla wants to impose 2 term limits on the PrimeMinister. Ability to recall MP's and one other that eludes me at this moment . I follow the news.
A simple majority cannot suffice to change the constitution.
This should have been taken to the people in a referendum

You are more daft than I assumed .
Why should a prime Minister serve only 2 terms if he of she is popular and the people wants them to stay on?
MP's can be recalled at election time . That what democracy is all about.
By the way Eric Williams was the greatest prime Minister ever ... Father of the nation

Go and learn some thing about Jeffersonian democracy and Westminster democracy .
Two term presidency is enshrined in the US constitution as written by the founding fathers .
Al Gore had more votes than Bush but Bush won the presidency and so dont compare Trinidad to the USA .
While I dont want to seem condescending , I feel like I am talking to a child

You foolish woman . Did I not list 2 points and stated the third one about outright majorities eluded me ?
Why did Kamla waited until this late in her term to implement this election promise ?. I will tell you why .
This is the most scandal led govt in Trinidad 's history . Crime through the roof with high profiled people like Seeathal murdered and no closer to a solution ... The Anil Roberts affair.
She is trying to deflect and change the subject and that is why she is implementing this now
