Sunday, August 24, 2014 - Islamabad—Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan on Saturday came up with yet another demand and asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down for 30 days.
In his speech to the participants of his party’s sit-in outside the Parliament House, Imran Khan said the PM should resign for 30 days during which the judicial commission may complete its probe.
“If the commission declares that Nawaz Sharif had really won the elections, then he can take back his office of Prime Minister,†he added.
He said only time would tell whether it is Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari would save the democracy.
“I would continue to stage sit-in till Nawaz Sharif tenders his resignation, even if it takes a full year,†he said.
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan has said though his life is in danger but will fight till the last ball.
Imran Khan said that the nation has woken up and would not allow any mischief from the government’s end.
He asked under what rule the routes to Islamabad have been blocked. Who does the government fear? He said he and his party workers have never indulged in any act like Gullu Butts while peaceful protest is their right Khan said that “Government that has been fraudulently formulated through rigged elections can never straighten their ways.
He announced amidst vociferous slogans that they will meet the losses of containers by selling Raiwind Palace of Sharifs. Regarding his presence in the container along with workers and leaders, the PTI Chief said he is now having a sound sleep in container. He said they have proofs of rigging in elections and will show them to the nation. Imran reiterated that he would not leave until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigned. The PTI chairman spoke out about the meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari saying this would make no difference as people had already made up their minds.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said that their struggle was 100 percent constitutional, legal and democratic.
Addressing participants of the Inqilab March, Saturday Dr Qadri said the constitution is not just words written on a piece of paper and it should be implemented for the welfare of the masses.
He said the Objectives Resolution was made part of the constitution to renew commitment of the founding fathers about objective behind the creation of Pakistan.
He said people are the real owners of Pakistan and the elected representatives are duty bound to look after their interests and run the affairs of the state. However he questioned whether the people were getting justice and have been provided safety of life, honour, freedom of gathering and expression, across the board application of law and access to information. Similarly he said there is no judicious distribution of resources and rich are become richest and poor committing suicides. Qadri said seven years have passed and local government elections have not been held because the rulers fear that they would lose them. Sharif brothers owe Rs 15-20 billion. “Is the nation aware of how much tax is paid by Nawaz and Shahbaz?†The PAT chief asked why the centre was being run by the Punjab chief minister. Dr Qadri called for the nation’s leaders to be put on trial under Article 6 of the constitution for violating the constitution. On the occasion, a former Police constable Ghulam Jaffar in uniform reached the venue and offered the sale of his accompanying children. He said he belongs to Jhang, worked in Adiyala Jail as Head Constable and was dismissed after 24 years service.—INP
