Well in Earth terms we can be considered dead when we die, but it's a fact that the soul lives on. And this is because we are forms of energy housed in a body, and energy never dies, so when it exits the body it lives on.

When you dead : its kaput . Game over !

The only thing most of us leave behind when we expire is our genetic footprint.  As for our bodies, it becomes worm and maggot food and part of the food chain.

You're only looking at it in Earth terms. And as I have stated clearly, in Earth terms we can be considered dead when we die. And as you said, the body becomes food for the Earth. What you're talking about has only to do the physical aspect of life, and nothing to do with the spiritual, because firstly, the planet itself is floating in suspension in mid air, and at the same time holding us down with gravity, and that's spiritual. So the soul returns to it's point of origin for rest. It's dead to the terrestrial world but quite alive to the spirit world. And the spiritual world is where we come from. The same place this planet is suspended in.
