ST LOUIS Mo (Reuters) - A white off-duty policeman shot and killed a black teenager in St Louis on Wednesday, officers said, triggering a night of protests just miles from the site of another police shooting of another black youth in the suburb of Ferguson.
Police said the 18-year-old was armed and fired three shots while he was being chased by the officer, and they had recovered a gun at the scene

What are they protesting for now? If he fired shots at the police and the police retured fire, why this protest now?

This location of the boy's murder is very close to my home. As I picked up my niece from work last night, I saw loads of cars from the protests and police was everywhere. Sighs. I don't know what to make of the story. I don't believe what is being put in the press thus far. Right now there is a need to vilify the dead teen. Too many conflicting reports between the residents and the police. The police version has this kid acting like a wannabe James Bond as he supposedly "jumped" from the bush and tackle the officer. The residents are saying he had a sandwich and was minding his business. The officer was doing a "pedestrian check," something I have never heard of but I suppose this is Saint Louis's version of stop and frisk toward blacks in the city. Anyway, it will be hard to find justice because they are using the dead teen's criminal record as a justification for his death and the gun found at the scene. Let me remind you guys, guns are sometimes planted by cops as well as drugs. This happened to a friend of mine when an officer attempted to place drugs in her car to arrest her.

I just heard a lawyer refer to this case. The teen was not obligated to stop because the off-duty police man had not loudly enough identified himself as an officer of the law.
I do not pretend to know all of the facts; however, that police officer is in a world of trouble. The US Justice department is said to be overlooking all police shootings in Missouri since the Ferguson tragedy.

I guess the police man planted the gun on the guy...went over grabbed the gun, fired the gun in his(the police) direction, then the police ran ran over to his position, and returned fire killing the teenager. Plausible...you bet.

You may have a point May. And the shooting could be linked to the Brown incident. People tend to forget that cops are people too and have the same childish mindset and behaviors of other people. Being a cop doesn't make anyone any different from anybody whose not a cop. And cops just like other people, commit acts of revenge or retribution.
