(Trinidad Express) IN what can be described as the first person to be banned from Trinidad and Tobago following new rules implemented last week as the country responds to the current Ebola threat, a Nigerian woman was turned away when she landed at Piarco International Airport on Friday.
According to a CNC3 report, the woman landed at Piarco that afternoon. She was interviewed by a health official at the airport after she disembarked from a Copa Airlines flight which had originated from Panama and stopped in Venezuela.
Being a Nigerian national whose journey began in Nigeria, she was grouped among those who will not be allowed into Trinidad and Tobago following the ban which went into effect last week.
The other countries from which travel to Trinidad and Tobago has been restricted are Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

I think it sad just, because someone comes from the country which has virus to assume the person has virus. So it was a waste of the women's time and money to travel to the country, when she will not be allowed into the place anyway. I hope these issues get resolved, and not just assume a person may have the virus due to being from the country which some have caught it. If she was checked by health official should not, have been banned from visiting the country which is sad to see how the virus is not fully understood.

Well, I read yesterday that Ebola in Nigeria was officially not an issue anymore and declared Ebola free. Perhaps any rejected admissions from Nigeria may be reinstated. I don't know. I have read a story of college students from some countries in Africa had their applications rejected to American universities due to the whole Ebola scare. Maybe it's me but I find it to be a scared tactic to ostracized a portion of the population. And when it's people of color, it becomes more fun.

Nigeria is the only African country thus far which has their Ebola crisis on lock, they've had 19 cases and as far as they report it's completely contained.
They probably had the good sense not to let Medicines San Frontieres or the Red Cross anywhere near their country. As soon as they show up, it's a wrap...pure carnage!

But they're afraid, and being cautious. The same as people started bugging out on eastern Arabs and Indians in America after the 9/11 incident. In some cases it's just plain juvenile and then in some it makes sense to exercise caution. So I'm not knocking what's being done by the T & T. Hey, it's better to be safe than sorry. Wouldn't you say?
