To lose their Obese ways :
Two US food and drink titans have posted sharply lower profits for the July-to-September quarter.
McDonald's saw earnings fall 30%, while Coca-Cola's fell 14%, with both citing lower US sales as key reasons.
The fast-food chain's profits of $1.07bn were also hit by a food scandal in China, contributing to a 4.6% fall in revenues to $6.99bn.
Meanwhile, the world's largest drinks group made a $2.1bn profit on revenues that were broadly flat at $11.9bn

I think that people are just getting tired of eating and drinking the same stuff. And too, sometimes they be changing the recipes and making it less tasty. Like the other day when I went to get some of Wendy's delicious chili. Well it used to be delicious. It was the first time I had any in about a year and found that they changed the recipe. I don't like it and won't be buying anymore. Wendy's chili was all I ate there and now they're a done deal. So if these food capitalists are tampering with their recipes then that can be a contributing factor to their drop in sales too.
KFC tampered with their recipe way back in the day and why Popeye's is kicking their ass in sales.

Well, this is a surprise for me to read. As a native of America, I will say obesity is a huge problem in this country. The traditional American diet - one involving meat, loads of sodium, sugar and cholesterol - is harmful to any human being's body. I slowly stop eating meat around 3 years ago. I look at statistics of diseases like cancer or Diabetes in other countries and found that the likelihood of such diseases occurring are in the lower percentile. Even in so - called third world countries, these diseases are consider rare. Perhaps staying away from the barbaric diet Americans adopted during cavemen days is a key to living a healthier life.

You have a point May. But realistically, out of all the things we have to help us feel a sense of satisfaction, food is the greater resource to that sense of fulfillment, and for that reason obesity is a problem and will remain a problem. I don't believe that healthy eating alone will solve the problem because you can gain weight on healthy food too. People love to eat above all things because it's the most fulfilling experience we as of yet can feel.
