The St. Louis Cardinals hoped slugger Oscar Taveras would become a star in Major League Baseball. Instead, at age 22, his light has gone out forever. Taveras died after a car wreck in his native Dominican Republic, a report confirmed Sunday night by Yahoo Sports' reporter Jeff Passan.
Several outlets in the Dominican, notably El Nuevo Diario, reported the news.

Appalling sad bit of news. Tis a cliche, but so tragic when so young and full of promise. Apparently there are pics of him dead all over facecrack, which is poor taste I believe.
Here is link to a British tabloid, no grisly pics, but it does show he state of the car, don't click on it if you're uber sensitive.

I saw this headline about 10 minutes ago. This is such a tragedy to die so young. He was apart of my home town's team here in St. Louis. Although I am not a Cardinal fan by any means, the news of this man's death is devastating to read about.
