A gunman is at large after shooting a male student in the parking lot of an off-campus residence hall near Delaware State University on Monday night.

Dover Police Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that investigators believe the crime is an isolated incident.The Dover campus was initially placed on lockdown, but the university lifted the lockdown around 8:00 p.m.

The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Carlos Holmes, a spokesman for the campus, said the shooting took place sometime after 4 p.m. at the Living and Learning Commons. The residence is a former Sheraton hotel.
