Many people are under the assumption that China and Russia forming a millitary bloc to counter the western NATO power, is a bit farfetched but think again. China and Russia are planning to hold large scale joint naval drills in the Mediterranean and Pacific next year, as deepening economic and political cooperation appear to be driving the two giants to at the very least discuss the idea of forming a military bloc. It should have come as no surprise as rising tensions between Japan and a rising China continue to drive the whole of asia towards instability, and the US seem to be staunchly in defense of the Japanese status quo despite China being the largest foreign holder of US debt. While the Ukranian debaucle sees almost every major western power giving Russia the cold shoulder. The two old powers are set to ramp up their respective military budget; China is set to spend an exhorbitant $132 billion on defense this year. Meanwhile, Russia is in the midst of a five-year $700-billion rearmament program, and has lately begun restoring Soviet-era bomber patrols across much of the West's airspace.

This would NOT be good for anybody. That includes South Asia. And I really don't know how the Chinese feel about Pakistan these days. While they have condemned Pakistan a bit for skirmishes on the Indian border it really does not mean much coming from a country that made the Dalai Lama flee his home land just so he could live. I personally believe China has helped Pakistan with its weapons development to further their grip in Asia because India is really the only other country that can challenge them (in Asia I am not talking about the world). This would be disturbing for the rest of the world if such an alliance were to occur.
