According to a report in the New York Daily News, the rookie NYPD officer who shot a man in a Brooklyn stairwell was texting his union representative while the victim lay dying. Peter Liang reportedly texted his rep instead of calling for help for Akai Gurley, 28. To make matters worse, the report claims, Liang and his partner weren’t supposed to be patrolling those stairways that night.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Yep, they were given specific instructions not to do "vertical patrols" basically being up inside the buildings, the disobeyed that order and the fact that they were straight onto the Union Rep before they even called for an ambulance or even back-up is an absolute abomination!!! The whole police force across this country needs a root to branch culling!

How could a cop shoot anybody, and not call it in? How is it that the police officer's commander discovered the information from residents of the housing complex? Once more their police commissioner, Bratton, called the shooting of an unarmed man, "an unfortunate accident".
Akai Gurley's girlfriend was there. She is a witness. What has she said?
