Dec 10 (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp said on Wednesday it plans to cut the number of items on its U.S. menus and use fewer ingredients in food as it moves to speed up service, bolster sales and offer consumers personalized options to compete better with Subway and Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Mike Andres, the company's U.S. president, said starting in January menus will have eight fewer food items and five fewer Extra Value Meals.
The world's biggest fast-food chain, which has not had a monthly gain in sales at established U.S. restaurants since October 2013, is also making the changes to reach out to consumers who are demanding simpler, more natural food choices.
The company is testing its slimmed-down menus in six markets, including Bakersfield, California, and Knoxville, Tennessee, a spokeswoman said.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

They have to do something. I read awhile ago that their US sales are lagging. Those lagging US sales cannot entirely be attributed to the lagging economy.
There have been times, I would rather wait a few extra minutes by going to Taco Bell. Taco Bell has a slower drive through service compared to McDonald's but their food is more nutritious.

Anyone who eats at Ronald McDevil's, needs to have their head checked. The only reason to ever go inside of one of those hellish establishments is if you need to use the loo...and even then, only if it's an extreme emergency!

I was surprised to discover recently two Mickey's closed on 125th in Harlem. I agree that their drop in sales isn't due to the economy. I think people are just getting tired of eating their food.
