An off-duty NYPD officer on her way to work was attacked by a stranger outside a Dunkin Donuts in Harlem on Wednesday morning, cops said.
The 43-year-old sergeant was holding a tea and walked out of the store at West 125th Street and Lenox Avenue around 6:45 a.m. when a babbling man attacked, sources said.
The sergeant was in plain clothes when the crazed man — who was speaking incoherently to himself — punched her and knocked her to the ground, sources said.
Before she could react, he socked her a second time and then took off, cops said.
The suspect is believed to be in his 30s approximately 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a baseball hat with orange, blue and white coloring, cops said.
The sergeant was rushed to St. Luke’s, where she was treated for a contusion to the back of her head and received five stitches for a gash under her left eye, cops said.
Cops said there was no way for the man to have known she was an NYPD sergeant.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
