Police are searching for the man responsible for stealing a car from a used car lot and then crashing it in Soundview.

Police have surveillance video of a hooded man scoping out the cars and driving away. The car belonged to Victor Ortega, who had just bought the vehicle Thursday from GR Auto Sales on Evergreen Avenue.

Ortega says he left the car running outside the lot for a moment

I'm not far from Soundview. Just about a mile away.

My grandfather lived on Evergreen ave.
