Indian man slammed down after caller reported 'black guy'

That doesn't sound like he was singled out, but that he fitted a description.

You make it sound like being black is a disadvantage or handicap.

You know, it's SAD that we're still living in an age of racial bias. There is good and bad in every profession, but unfortunately, there are still individuals who hold resentment and prejudice ideologies in the heart; whether from the lowest punk from the streets, or people in positions of power. Much has changed since the civil rights movement in the 50's & 60's, (it is evident by the election of Obama) but progression to move past our inner hatred towards people of color still rages on in the white community (an in other ethnicities). Don't get this twisted; NOT ALL WHITES ARE RACIST!!! And I blessed them who aren't. As stated above (just certain individuals). The true motives of their hatred towards blacks or people of color is manifested in their ACTIONS! Whites will deny that racism isn't an issue (which they usually do), but actions speak louder than words. Just like the officers have mistaken this Indian to be black, the police officers killed in New York were mistaken as being white (one was Asian, the other Hispanic). I Thank God Almighty that I'm not prejudice towards NOBODY! And I pray that there will come a time when discrimination (in any form) is totally eradicated. One day, people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I still believe in this same dream Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once had.

It is too bad. It's a sign of poor training and a willingness to use too much force. I worked with officers that were way too fast on using force. When an officer exceeds common sense and applies too much force, it puts the public at risk and his agency. A standard rule for cops, is CYA - Cover Your Agency. Don't do dumb stuff that gets the agency sued. It is always easy to escalate the use of force, it is all but impossible to start out with a heavy hand and bring the emotions down. Since there was no report of a crime, the cops need to go in with caution and find out what the hell is going on.
