Less Guyanese are looking to migrate, according to a survey last year for the Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP).

There is a train of thought that the US is trying to take over the country for it's natural resources by emptying the country of it people . Huge quantities of oil were discovered but this is kept under wraps.
People with no expectations of obtaining a US visa are given 5 and 10 year visas .
