I WAS hoping that at the APNU-AFC rally at Whim in Berbice, the AFC prime ministerial candidate, Moses Nagamootoo, would have laid out his 40-year-old plan to balance the ethnic makeup of Guyana’s Armed Forces. Moses, as a PPP member, laid the blame of the rigging of elections and the massacre of Indians at the doors of the armed forces and the X-13 plan. The armed forces are recipients of tax payers’ money.
Have these two become rear view mirror issues, subservient to your quest to become the prime minister? Moses seems to enter into this “reality distortion field†and think Indians are transactions for him to profit from. Or have you become an Africanised Indian and will come out after the election and spearhead a march to terrorise Indians and PPP/C supporters?
There is nothing radical about the AFC collating with the PNC. Ask Dr. Rupert Roopnarine; he too was supposed to deliver Indians to the PNC. The PNC/APNU is a repository where failed parties go to live out their nightmares. It is called the Kabaka/Burnham curse, as Dr. Walter Rodney said.
No one should thrust anyone who denies his ethnicity, because who knows what else he is ashamed of or hiding.
Furthermore, Moses should not have accepted the GOPIO award and he should be brave enough to return the award to the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin.
When Mr. Sam Hinds was selected to become the PPP/C prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Moses threw a tantrum complaining that he was entitled to at least that position. Prime Minister Sam Hinds has not only brought change to the PPP/C, but has brought class and integrity to the Office of the Prime Minister. He is a giant of a statesman and has never used any ‘cuss down’ language as Mr. Moses is using on the campaign trail. Prime Minister Sam Hinds should put his hands on Mr. Nagamootoo’s shoulders and blow some breeze on him.
My African friend from New Amsterdam e-mailed me and expressed her disappointment at the language MP Nagamootoo was using. She and her small child went to the Whim meeting with the bus right after church. The child wanted to know why the old man was speaking so much about toilet paper.
At Whim, Moses criticised the PPP/C plan to modernise the sugar industry but failed to disclose that he voted to have the funds invested in GuySuCo. He has on occasion called for the sugar industry to be closed down. What becomes of the sugar workers, Grand Pa Moses? Even Moses cannot have two sweets from one joint of sugar cane. You can have only one sweet from one joint, but you can have rotten joints with worms in between.
He is also calling on Indians in the rice industry to vote for a Guyanese and not the Indian PPP/C government. His theme song of ‘this time na lang time, dis na dey before time’ is relevant because the rice industry is prospering without the PNC. My father, a rice farmer from Black Bush Polder, had his paddy seized by the PNC thugs while the paddy was in transit. Indians do not want their paddy seized again by PNC/APNU-AFC.
The rice farmers and millers have blown away the weevil infested PNC and will not vote for the PNC/APNU-AFC to re-infect their crops.
Moses dedicated the majority of his time on the lectern ‘cussing down’ the ex-president, asking him to use toilet paper on his mouth. Moses an ex-teacher, current MP and aspirant to the prime ministership should not sink to that kind of language. Grand Pa Moses should know better than using such nasty language. Grand Pa Moses is frothing from both sides of his mouth with hate. We will be forced to rate his meetings as PG-13 gatherings. Some of the people at the meeting were taken by church busses to Whim and should have called on the elder Moses to be more decent in his language. This is latrine politics the old man is preaching. Shame on you Moses! Is this the kind of change we should expect from you?
Guyanese, Moses Nagamootoo has no legitimacy calling on Indians at Whim to vote for him. Zero percent of Indians should cast their votes for PNC/APNU-AFC.
My friends in Corentyne always warned me not to trust “Naggaâ€, as we called Nagamootoo at New Amsterdam Freedom House.
Leave no stone unturned. Let the cup run over.

“We want you to come out and vote, and do it right!†she said, as she urged the residents to make sure they know where their polling stations are located.
Dr. Persaud echoed the words of her colleagues when expressing her concerns for educating the youths about the history of the people of Guyana, and the struggles they faced prior to 1992.
“We must know of the struggles and problems we had in the past, so that we don’t repeat the same mistake in the future.
“Times have changed, we have moved, and today we all enjoy the benefits of hard work and struggle. We have an improved education system, better health care, better roads and water supply among other (things)â€, she said.
Speaking on the empowerment of women, Dr. Persaud noted that the Government has always placed emphasis on empowering women.
“We have one-third of the PPP/C Parliamentary seats given to the women of our country; and in this year’s elections, we have chosen a woman to represent us at the prime ministerial position. That woman is Mrs. Elisabeth Harper!†she proudly declared.

Dear Editor,
I am pleased that the Combined Opposition was given a chance to lead the 10th Parliament. They Failed. We learnt what kind of drivers they are. At each junction they could not figure out where to turn so they stopped and caused the system to back up as we say.
The people of our nation had to suffer from the lack of implementation of key programs proposed by the PPP/C that would have certainly created the environment for all to benefit. Despite of the inept management in Parliament, the Government has been able to push the Vision of Growth and enabling the population to still have the opportunities its needs to continue to flourish.
We cannot do a U-Turn to 1985 Politics, that car is broken down and rusty. The senior leadership of the coalition is from an era that has long gone. The world, regional economies and approaches to nation building has changed. Economics is real time and key hardware elements such as infrastructure improvements to ensure areas such as Transport Economics is realized must be given a chance from 2015.
In addition, foreign investors and even Foreign Governments prefer a stable economy and we have that right now. So no U-Turn is possible. In the last 5 years of this decade, we have to work double time to ensure that the both the hardware and software elements of the plan are realized such as the deep water harbour, technology infusion in every region and other programs which the Opposition disapproved in the 10th Parliament in addition to the new and exciting programs being instituted in the PPP/C 2015 Manifesto.
It is not about 2030, the vision is now, and it is about 2015-2020. Technology Industrial Complexes as we are seeing in Region 4 and Region 10 must be populated around the country.
I am excited to help present the 2015-2020 plan of the PPP/C during the campaign. Our people have realized that a U-Turn to the Opposition Camp with 1985 experience leaders will halt the nation growth and turn it back.
Here is an old Guyanese proverb to those in the AFC/APNU camp that has benefited from the Stable Economy under the PPP/C government: “Lil Finger point to big thumb and sey nah guh†NO U-TURN.
Dr Peter Ramsaroop.

Guyana’s opposition coalition intends to change the constitution to allow for parties to team up after a general election to prevent the one with the plurality from forming the government, a top official of the Alliance For Change (AFC) said Saturday.
AFC Chairman, Nigel Hughes signaled the coalition’s intention to do so at a rally at Anna Regina where the opposition’s Presidential Candidate, David Granger also appealed to Essequibians to vote overwhelmingly for the coalition of A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) on May 11, 2015.
Hughes suggested that the constitutional amendment that in 1964 permitted a post-election coalition between the People’s National Congress (PNC) and the United Force (UF) should be reintroduced.
“After five decades, we have a constitution that says if you don’t get a majority, you cannot wait until after the elections to come together and form a coalition because if that had happened and if we had those provisions in the constitution, we would have had President David Granger and Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo since 2011 so we must understand the things we have to change,†he said. Aspects of Guyana’s Constitution cannot be amended unless they are supported by at least 43 of the 65 elected parliamentarians.
Although the incumbent People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) lost its majority by one seat at the November, 2011 election to the combined opposition with 33 seats, the President appointed a cabinet and ran the country as if his party had enjoyed a simple majority. Opposition-piloted and approved laws and motions were for the most part ignored.
Meanwhile, Granger begged Essequibians to vote in their numbers for APNU+AFC this time around unlike what they had done in 2011. “Don’t do what you did in 2011 give those 12,000 votes and I3,000; do not do it again,†he told the rally held at Damon Square, a very short distance away from the
Hughes said the time has come to erase constitutional provisions that make the president immune from legal action and give him absolute power.
In the Cummingsburg Accord that established the pre-election coalition, APNU and AFC have agreed to pursue constitutional reform if elected to office in just over one month from now.

“Elisabeth Harper is a woman of great integrity who would have served this country with much pride as the Director General of the Foreign Affairs Ministry,†Selman said in response to Nagamootoo, who sought to belittle Harper for being a victim of domestic abuse in her earlier years.
Selma said Granger’s failure to rebuke Nagamootoo publicly sent a clear message that he was in full support of the sentiments expressed by the AFC Executive.
“His silence supports my view that David Granger has always been an anti-women, anti-youth, anti-development leader.â€

The PPP/C, she said, is about building national pride, and has an unwavering commitment to building Guyana through the development of the various sectors, such as housing and water, and health and education.
She highlighted that the Manifesto also speaks at length about plans for Linden; such as a Linden Special Development Fund that will be patterned after the Amerindian Fund; a regional sport facility; ICT; new equipment for health centres and clinics; and a regional diagnostic centre.
She noted that presently, more attention needs to be given to job creation for our young people, and that in accordance with the PPP/C Manifesto, “We will make sure jobs are created and more development and a number of new initiatives for job creation opportunities will be embarked upon.â€
In closing, she said: “With these new initiatives, many more people will be able to enjoy a higher standard of living in this country. Our Manifesto will talk about housing for young people; a vision that is geared to creating a Guyana with a great future; with more interacting and dialogue and facilitate our decision-making within this sector.â€
As a parting shot, she said: “The PPP/C remains steadfast to advance the development of all the communities across this country. My fellow Guyanese, let progress continue with the PPP/C, and the cup of prosperity.â€
