A man in an armored vehicle opened fire on Dallas police headquarters Saturday morning, leading officers on a car chase that ended in the city of Hutchins. The suspect, self-identified as 50-year-old James Boulware, threatened to detonate explosives because police “took his child and accused him of being a terrorist,†according to Dallas police Chief David Brown. No injuries have been reported so far. A pipe bomb was found in at least one of four bags hidden around police headquarters.
Police have not confirmed that the man is who he says he is, but Boulware was arrested in 2013 after he obtained firearms, ammunition and body armor and threatened to attack his family, churches and schools. That case was dismissed last year after he fulfilled a court’s requirements. Police are currently negotiating with the suspect, who remains inside his armored vehicle.
