New Orleans police officer shot & killed while driving suspect to jail

A veteran New Orleans police officer was shot and killed on Saturday morning while driving a suspect to the city jail.

Police investigated the scene where a department SUV crashed into an electrical pole after the shooting.

The body of the officer, identified as Daryle Holloway, was found in the vehicle.

The suspect, Travis Boys, has escaped.

Police said the suspect had his hands handcuffed behind his back, but somehow managed to get them to the front of his body.

It’s not clear if the officer was shot with his own gun.
