The Cuban government said Wednesday it wants Guantánamo Bay back from the United States. The U.S. has leased the area for its naval base from Cuba since 1903—and the communist regime has demanded the territory back since its 1959 revolution. The demand came as the U.S. and Cuba announced the opening of embassies in each other’s capitals. “This is an important step forward in the process of normalizing relations between our two countries and peoples that we initiated last December,†President Obama wrote in an official letter to Cuban leader Raul Castro. The administration said it sent a 15-day notification about the opening of an embassy in Havana to Congress on Wednesday. Cuba also demanded the U.S. end “subversive†radio and TV broadcasts as part of the normalizing of relations.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Gitmo is falling apart.
It is expensive to maintain. It was used for torture, and other miseries.
It's only advantage is as a prison; its location turned out to be advantageous. The W/ Cheney administration could - and did - claim prisoners there were not on actual US soil, and therefore, had only rights afforded POWs, and no U.S. Constittution ones.
Once Obama finally closes it - and he will close it; prisoners there are slowly but surely being processed and transported elsewhere - Gitmo has lost its purpose.
The only reason Cuba should not take it over is because they would continue using it as a miserable prison; their human rights abuses would pick up where the U.S. left off.
