Pilot Flushed Bullets Down Toilet

A United Airlines captain flushed 10 bullets down the toilet on a flight from Texas to Germany last week. The Aviation Herald reports the unnamed pilot discovered he was still carrying ammunition in his luggage once he was aboard the plane. Knowing that ammo was not permitted to be taken into Germany, he first threw it out in a waste bin. Then a flight attendant discovered the bullets while searching for a passenger's lost ring. The attendant "dutifully brought and reported the bullets to the captain, who now decided to ultimately get rid of the bullets and dumped them down the toilet." Realizing she would file a report, the pilot told ground control, the plane's septic tanks were emptied, and the bullets were recovered.
