Has India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi lost the plot?
This week, his BJP government backed down on its controversial land acquisition bill, which would have made it easier for land
to be used for industry and infrastructure projects.
It has, more or less, returned to the old law approved by the former Congress party government :-[
which actually made it tougher for industry to acquire land from farmers.

In fact, the prime minister has shown little appetite for reform so far:
last year his government rolled back a suburban train fare hike after protests from commuters,
a move that a once-sympathetic columnist now says was an act of "spineless populism". :-[

that's a good law...anything that helps to keep industry straight.
there is a reason why industry has money that they must use it to to get what the want in a legal manner. the legal difficulty is to ensure a powerful entity toes the law..the entity that has more power than the ordinary people combined.
and they can write it off in any way..the costs of protecting the people against powerful industry. they can write it off as a cost of doing business.
Modi did the right thing. let them go through the process. it does not cost them a dam thing in the end but benefits the community at large that big business cannot run roughshod over their collective interest

the point is that business wants what it wants and gets what it wants and wants to establish that principle firmly in our faces, and minds, in law and common practice. its about bizness right to do as it dam well pleases.
bizness don't want to have to go through any process that suggest they have to mind the interest of any one but theirs. bizness is lord of lords and tells people and governments. business is never told and cannot be told by anyone.
bizness kills for that, overthrows governments for that
