A minimum of 32 people have been killed from lightning strikes in India in 7 different districts of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa including 6 women. Lightning strikes though are a common incident in monsoon season, however most people who died were working in open fields in torrential rains when they got struck. Two women cricket teams also barely escaped a lightning event that struck merely a second later they moved from the ground. “It was nothing less than a miracle that the team escapedâ€, was the statement of a senior cricket official. June till September, the monsoon season receives 80% of the country's annual rainfall.
