Torrential rains are causing havoc in the East region of Japan where 100,000 people were asked to evacuate their homes and move to safer grounds. Joso, a town of 65,000 located on the north east of Japan, in a video footage saw a huge torrent of muddy water enter the city taking away houses from their foundation and washing away cars on the way. Those present in the town are desperately seeking help, while several have gone missing, with two individuals confirmed dead by Thursday morning. Out of the 65,000 population only 2500 had managed to flee to save themselves, while the others were still in the town when the water levels increased dramatically. Rescuers are continuously trying to save people however the conditions and overwhelming statistics of people stuck waiting for help indicate a lot more casualties will occur. Besides facing nature's fury Japan also now faces the threat of leaked radioactive water as drainage pipes of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant were overwhelmed by the rain.
The torrential rains are caused by the Typhoon Etau affecting several parts of eastern and central Japan. The heavy rains are expected to expand towards North on Friday.
