(CNN)Eighty-seven of 91 former NFL players who donated their brains to science after death tested positive for a brain disease that is believed to be linked with repeated head trauma and concussions, researchers said.
The former players were found to have had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known as CTE, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Boston University.
It's not clear why some players develop the disease and others don't.
The study results don't necessarily mean that 96% of all NFL players are at risk for CTE, said Dr. Robert Cantu. The brains came from players who, while they were alive, had concerns about CTE. His group began its work in 2008.
The data was published on the website for the Concussion Legacy Foundation, which Cantu co-founded, and first reported Friday by the documentary TV program "Frontline."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

NBA is likely performance drugs...the NFL is blows to the head likely in combination with performance drugs.
dat game deh will have to stop playing or reorganize it totally..change the manner of tackling and so on. that game can be played without the physical mayhem and still be interesting, maintaining all the physical excellence of great catches and runs, quarterback tossing brilliant passes etc

I DON'T AGREE WITH THAT KIND OF THING CHAIRMAN. I MEAN IN ALL GAMES PLAYERS CAN GET KILLED BUT NOT LIKE THE NFL. I DON'T LIKE RUGBY FOR THE SAME REASON. AND APPARENTLY AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL IS EVEN WORSE THAN RUGBY AND NFL.
I know de NFL can be cleaned up leaving the essence of the game intact. they will soon be forced to clean it or the game will be banned. there has long been a lobby against that game
