DESCRIBING herself as the "prime minister in waiting", Senior Counsel Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday delivered a speech in which she seemed to take verbal jabs at former president George Maxwell Richards, former independent senator Helen Drayton and the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) for separate recent issues.
Moments after accepting her letter of appointment from President Anthony Carmona yesterday, Persad-Bissessar promised to be a "most vocal" Opposition Leader, saying she believes that "freedom always dies when criticism ends".
She also defended the United National Congress's (UNC) decision to challenge the EBC's right to extend the election period for an hour in six marginal constituencies saying the party had taken "the hard road in the public interest".
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
