A dud of a bombshell: Mahmoud Abbas' speech at the UN lands with a thud

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
On paper, Mahmoud Abbas, spoke to the UN General Assembly Wednesday as the Palestinian Authority’s president.

Actually, outflanked by the radical terrorists of Hamas, he’s become a figurehead clinging to relevance.

Which begins to explain his “bombshell” proclamation that the Authority is no longer bound by agreements with Israel, known as the Oslo Accords.

He can’t make bold moves to cut a peace deal with Israel for fear of getting assassinated by Hamas.

He has power only in the Palestinian territory on the West Bank, not in Gaza, which is lorded over by Hamas.

He is in the 11th year of a four-year term, and he is afraid to hold an election because he would lose to Hamas.

So R.I.P. to the Oslo Accords. And so what?
