"The Martian" bags in $55 m this weekend

The Martian, the space thriller starring Matt Damon gathered a record grossing business of $55 million over the weekend, nearing the previous Oscar winner movie "Gravity"'s record of $55.8 million on October opening.
The film has been closely monitored and suggested by the European Space Agency (USA) to make the film's screening as accurate as possible.
More than 46% of the weekend earnings of the movie are owed to 3D screenings.
