The latest Iowa primary polling now shows retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson surging ahead of real-estate mogul Donald Trump in the race for the Republican Party nomination. According to the new Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll, Carson now sits at 28 percent, nine percentage points ahead of Trump’s 19 percent. GOP voters in the socially conservative caucus state have seemingly responded to Carson’s controversial comments on religion, bumping him up 10 percentage points since August, while dropping Trump by four.

A new CBS/New York Times poll shows that Donald Trump has lost his national lead among Republican presdiential candidates, with Ben Carson surging ahead of the real-estate mogul. Carson is now the choice of 26 percent of Republican primary voters surveyed, beating Trump’s 22 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio is a distant third place with 8 percent, while Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina are tied at 7 percent.
