As the final night of the 2015 Divali Nagar celebrations came to an end on Monday, Prime Minister Keith Rowley was among hundreds of patrons who attended the festivities and were awed by the spectacular fireworks display and live entertainment.
The event featured nine nights of celebrations at the Divali Nagar site in Chaguanas, which began on November 1.
Rowley was welcomed by a band of tassa players from Penal. He was presented with a book, which charted the National Council of Indian Culture’s (NCIC) history, by the organisation’s president Deokienanan Sharma.
“It’s a pleasure and honour to be here and I am very grateful to receive this text, and I want to give you the assurance that I will read it and I am sure I’ll be edified. I simply want to take the opportunity to say to all, the national and particularly the Hindu community, Shubh Divali,†said Rowley.
