The land of doubles, buss-up-shut, pelau and other delicious meals snagged the top third position in USA Today’s 10 Best Caribbean Destinations for Food.

Trinidad and Tobago placed third on the list, above other Caribbean contenders such as Barbados, Curacao and Puerto Rico.

USA Today's 10Best listed the Caribbean's 10 top countries for food and voters opted for the country’s cuisine and its well-known delicious street food.

“Roti is the most iconic dish of Trinidad (and Tobago), and you will find roti stands and restaurants throughout its capital Port of Spain.”

“Flat bread rolled up with local curried meats, seafood and vegetables and various complements and condiments, it strongly reflects the robust East Indian influence on the island. American influence has also had its effect.”

“The fine eateries along Ariapita Avenue, in fact, feel many international influences while keeping to the island’s West Indian-East Indian roots.”
In first place was the Dominican Republic, which is known for its Spanish/African/European influences, while Guadeloupe, which is known for its French-infused cuisine, placed second.

Trinidad and Tobago also placed fourth in 10Best’s top ‘10 Best Caribbean Destinations for Nightlife’ and eighth under the ‘Best Caribbean Destination for Adventure’.

As an adventure spot the website said that the country is full of things to do: "Trinidad’s little sister island has a big reputation for scuba diving, seasonally with giant rays on Manta Reef."

"For snorkelers, Nylon Pool is incredibly crystal clear. Pristine reefs and underwater gardens of coral and sea fans mesmerize."

"On land, hiking trails riddle the island’s vast acreage of natural areas, which include a rainforest and a mountain lake."

"You can take to the mountains on a bike or mount a horse for exploring. Tobago’s culture in itself is an adventure: The island adheres to traditions such as goat racing and old-time wedding celebrations."

What do you like most about our beautiful twin-island republic?

but seriously I cyar take this survey and lis' seriously.  why......Anguilla and Nevis is 7 and 9 ::confused:: ::confused::  what the hell!!!!!

deh have 200 people on anguilla and 700 on Nevis :o :o :o :o  deh must have et tourist food.  and fuh that tourism to have spawned a real west indian cuisine in dem 2 dots it have to be an extensive tourism.  and if it is what kind of food comprises that tourist cuisine.....

it have to be western food..food that you would get on the streets of Toronto or London.  how in the hell do you get a ral cusines you  cyan call west indian CUISINE up in Anguilla and Nevis ::confused:: ::confused::

all the others might have something... even if I am very suspicious about Barbados cuisine, 'Curaso' and St Maarten..although st maarten has gotten kinda diverse over the last35-40 years.  Bim too!  but that not long enough to blend a real local food. and deh doh grow nutten up in dem Dutch islands.  all deh food is imports

and the French islands are states of the nation of France. they all are Frenchmen, citizens and the food they eat is French food, whatever west indian mitigations that may have evolved in the meantime ::LOL:: ::LOL:: ::LOL::

I would not call all ah dat west indian cuisine.  real west indian cuisines, full of local ingredients blended and shaped by the many cultural influences that inhabit places like Titty, Puerto Rico and the DR..seem possible only in those regions.  BG too.

Jamaica has some nice contributions like Jerk sauce and a good beef patty that suffers for the lack of top quality ingredients.  Yardy beef patties made with organic beef and flour and other ingredients are tremendous eats, sparking, sharp!

Akee and Sal'fish, with green fig is also a terrific meal when well made..made by a real Yardy female who can cook. Yardies have a way with green fig when they finish with it it tas'e smooth and mellow, like a dream. they manage to turn the hard old fig into a soft like sweet potato.

this survey is for fun...superficial..not to be taken in any way more seriously than that.  but even so is wood fuh sketchim, google, ramesh an dem.  I go ketch all ah dem in Titty one day, chowing down on a street corner, under lamp post light..doubles, akra and sal'fish, 'polori' and roti from the nearby shop, washing everything down with coconut water, stealthily looking out fuh peole like me who know dem from here..walking with a big hand with five fingahs that operate with a switch and powerful battery, never run out... to tickle deh rarse all to hell on the streets of port of spain or st joseph, san'do, in st james, cunupia or beo'cal.

deh wun be able to hide
