Grand Parents tingy !

I got a dose of reality all week re : Grand Parents!!

I know they are my brothers and sisters.

But is this what I call "obsession" : Healthy ??

should this relationship be a bit more casual ? :-\

note well : I am not a Gran....so i cannot give a personal experience

But as a Father I have enough exposure with little ones.

Explain the relationship.


I am a doting grandma and make no apologies about it.  But then, I am also a doting mom, especially to my daughter.

Do you feel like tekkin way the GranChild ?

Nah .... 

Like Mese, I am a doting Nanee (for Ketch....that is hindi for Grandma  ;D )

but I am not an interfering one - unless the grandkids are being hurt......and that hasn't happened and I know it won't ever happen

I let the moms and dads bring up their kids their way
Me - I love them, hug them, spoil them with gifts, and let them know that they can always come to me for and about anything at all.

Ketch - as grandparents we have so much more time and not to mention money to spend on our grands than we ever had with out kids......then we were busy working, and for me anyway, was a bit more focused into attaining material things (house, cars, saving for kids education, etc) and trying to bring our kids up the best way we can!!

now, I have very little interest in the material stuff and my kids are got their initial education......hence more time and a lil extra money to spend on the grands.

plus.....when I look at my grands I get this wonderful feeling.....that a bit of me lives on in/to the next generation.

It's not easy to describe how I feel about my grands......but it is very very special

and I love to be with them, spend time with them.....watch them grow and learn and discover the world.
I see things differently through their eyes.

So we attempt to ease the  Neglect of our own kids, regardless of the reasons :

by doting over the Grans ??  :-\

my kids were certainly not neglected
we did every thing with them and took them everywhere we went (grocery shopping, visiting relatives and friends, vacations) cause we didn't have anyone (oh how I wished for some grandparents close by back then) to leave them with!!

my kids leave the grands with us all the time......and I don't see it as neglect
kids are exposed to a whole set of different things.....foods, conversations, games(we play cricket with them, their parents play baseball, hockey and football with them), foods, even the some of the rules at my house are a bit more relaxed.

the sweetest part is....the boys fight to come to my house and I will never say no to that

I was telling my Sis I never saw her "dote" over she own daughter.

Like you , she got pissed  ;D

my final say on this topic.......you will finally understand when you become a grandpa!!

it's all about the stages of life.......the maturity, the appreciation (of being alive to enjoy grands.  so many do not get to enjoy this wonderful experience).
