Bronx residents woke up to snow-covered cars and streets Saturday morning, after the first major storm of 2016.
While crews are working very hard to clear the roads, many side streets in Soundview have not been plowed yet.
Drivers are advised to stay inside, but if you do have to go outside, it's important to wear layers to keep warm.

People working hard to clear the roads... It looks like an almost impossible huge uphill task. Has it ever been worse than this in the history of New York and its surroundings? Or it is the beginning of nature's course to correct human errors and abuse of the planet? It's been a barrage of flash floods, hurricanes, snowfall all around the world in the past few months.

If you have to drive, go slow and at a steady pace. Do not break because that will cause skidding, instead keep double the normal distance and let go of the accelerator. Then use a gentle break. If the car starts skidding, turn the wheel TOWARDS the direction in which the car is skidding to.
Finally, now is the time to knock down a few mailboxes in your neighborhood ?

Residents along the East Coast are still digging out Monday after a massive snowstorm buried much of the region, leaving at least
29 people dead
. The deaths ranged in snowstorm-related incidents including car accidents, carbon-monoxide poisoning, and heart attacks while shoveling snow. New York City broke its all-time daily snowfall record with 26.6 inches at Central Park while JFK International Airport recorded 30.1 inches. West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania also saw totals over 30 inches. Southern shore towns in New Jersey and Delaware were hard-hit by icy flooding, where water levels exceeded those in 2012’s Hurricane Sandy. Airlines on Sunday had canceled 800 Monday flights while all federal offices in Washington will be closed Monday, the U.S. Office of Emergency Management said.

Wind speeds exceeded levels of Hurricane Sandy. Its unfortunate that so many deaths took place. For Carbon Monoxide, I installed a sensor with its own battery pack in my car last winter. You should have one in you bedroom too, its safer that way.
