the certainly did release only male mosquitoes but they knew that at least 4-5% would survive and go  into the wild due to tetracycline in the environment.

they also knew that Brasil is overflowing with waste tetracycline and that upwards of 15% of the mosquitoes would survive their in-built self destruct..or lethality as they term it.  and so girded with a jumping gene the new life form has merged with wild populations to produce god knows what.

AND IT DOES NOT STOP THERE.  THE GENES,MUTATING ALL THE TIME IS JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE, FROM SPECIES TO SPECIES PRODUCING GOD KNOWS WHAT FOR HUMANITY.
