Yes, the objective was to make sure that Russia controls the oil going into Europe. All the King's horses and all the king's men couldn't get Assad of his holy hen

Thanks to Putin.

Putin has achieved his objective of shoring up the Assad regime so Russia can now be scaled down its Military intervention in Syria. Some persons are suggesting that the pull-out was influenced by the proposed intervention of Turkey and Saudi Arabia into the Syrian conflict, however, I don't see Saudia Arabia directly sending forces into Syria, they are more likely to support incursions into that country, and the objective for Turkey, in this case, is to really go after the Kurds.

Although, I have loved Canada's stance in all of this. I think that kind of an independent foreign policy would have helped Britain, but alas, they have decided not to be independent.

I think it's great. There's already an American-led coallition. The other one led by Russia didn't seem much legit, even though they were destroying ISIS pretty good. It was basically Russia and the government of Syria. Instead, Russia should probably join the worldwide operation agaist ISIS. However, this is unlikely to take place.

Putin got what he wanted so this makes sense. The Syrian army has gotten stronger and now is able to defend themselves against both the rebels and ISIS, they will reclaim several territory in the next few months. Last thing I heard is that they had retaken control of the city of Palmyra from ISIS
