Iconic reggae singer Jimmy Riley is dead.
The STAR understands that Riley who is the father of reggae artiste Tarrus Riley, died on Tuesday after battling with cancer.
Known for hits like Love and Devotion and Give Thanks And Praise, a source close to the family told the STAR he died in Florida.
Since news began circulating on Wednesday morning a number of persons have taken to social media to express their sentiments.
Tarrus Riley's label mate, Alaine was among the first to show support.
"Sending sincere condolences to @tarrusrileyja for the loss of his father. Only God knows the pain we feel and only God will heal it. #restinloveJimmyRiley #Godcomfortyourfamily #loveneverdies," she wrote.
Jimmy Riley was 68.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

This was such an unfortunate event. More and more artists are losing their battles with cancer. Condolences to his family and friends. He was truly a great singer, I can still remember his version of Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye. I love that song. Here's a link to the song:

He will definitely be missed. He was a big influence for a lot of people that I know who got into music and I always enjoyed his music very much. I did not listen to him a lot in the past recent years but with this news I will certainly have to pay him a little tribute. I hope the best for the family and the loved ones.
