Selfies have taken over the world and not in a good way. In India multiple incidents have occurred. 15-year-old boys shoots self in head while trying to take selfie with family gun in picture, teenager walks in front of train to their death while taking a selfie and man is injured by elephant when he takes selfie at festival. This is a global phenomenon that only grows worse. The world has become beyond obsessed with posting pictures and updating status of their latest meal.
What steps need to be taken to cease this issue?
Do we need government officials to deploy a task force to watch for people to be distracted while texting?

Damn I've been reading alot about these selfie accidents lately. It's really stupid. I think people should learn to control themselves and not get carried away with the thought of an epic selfie and the 'likes' they will get on social media.

Yeah... selfies... I don't really see the appeal tbh, but people will do stupid things.
I remember reading that selfies have killed more people than shark attacks last year.
I think some regulation has to be made, but more than that, maybe an app that lets you know if the selfie location is dangerous? Or possible something built into the camera app itself.

A recent case in my country was about a woman who wanted to take the perfect selfie. So she went to the highest floor in her building, it was a condominium she was living in. And she got to the rooftop to take the perfect selfie. And while she was taking her picture, she fell of the building. It might be because she hasn't noticed that she was already in the edge. Sadly, she died as well.
Tragic as it is, it's such a common incident nowadays. And I think the government can only do so much. It's up to us to observe the situation before going in. We just cannot risk our lives for the sake of taking pictures because it isn't even worth it.

Honestly if you take a selfie with a gun and shoot yourself by mistake, that's just some sort of stupid mistake completely unrelated to selfies. I'd say that there were probably a lot of deaths once cameras were introduced in stupid ways too, but that's just human nature.

I think it would be very to difficult to regulate people the taking of selfies. There are many other stunts that people do which may cause injury and harm just like what may be like what may be obtained in some of these selfie acts, therefore, the authorities would have to consider regulations for those actions too which wouldn't be feasible. I know that there is the concern for the resulting harm and grief that could culminate from these sometimes stupid actions but apart from some sensitization of the possible serious effects. What else could be done?

Selfies are a blessing for attention whore teenagers and narcissistic people in general. The retards among them will try to make selfies that defies Darwinism. The government, as predictable as always, will only tackle this issue the only way they know : regulate the hell out of it.

That' the problem with taking pictures with a phone. When we used a camera instead these kind of accidents were very rare. But I am glad to see that some of these idiots are paying with their lives.
