Hospital administrator beaten by health workers
Wednesday, May 4 2016
SOUTHERN Division police are investigating a report made by a senior official at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) that he was locked in his office and assaulted by three health workers after they were served with transfer letters from the Human Resources Department of the hospital.
Ghany Singh, an assistant administrator at the SFGH reported to police that he was in his office last Thursday when the three employees walked in and began arguing with him over the transfer letters.
He was beaten by the three. He later sought treatment at the Accident & Emergency Department of the hospital. Police reports stated that at about 11.30 am on April 28, Singh was in his office when he was accosted by the three who were upset that they were about to be transferred to a district health facility. One of the male workers challenged the senior hospital official authority to have him transferred and reportedly grabbed him and a scuffle ensued.
The official reportedly sustained injuries to his face and had to seek medical attention. He subsequently lodged a report at the San Fernando police station.
In a telephone interview yesterday, South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) Chief Executive Officer Anil Gosine, said he had only received a report on the incident on Monday and was still in the process of compiling the confirmation.
He did not say what action, if any, would be taken against the workers as the reports are still incomplete.
Hospital sources told Newsday when an employee signs a contract with the SWRHA, he/she is obligated to work in any health institution in the catchment area.
Up to yesterday the three were still at the SFGH where they have been employed at that hospital since 2007.

That type of thing is common here in Central Florida's healthcare system. Nurses who live in the south end of the county can be transferred to the north end of the county on short notice. It is over an hour drive there and sometimes after working 12 - 14 hours, it is another hour drive home. Two nurses in recent years have been killed by falling asleep behind the wheel after one of those transfers.
I can understand why they would be angry >

but beating him up probably didn't fix the issue ::confused:: .

Huh, goes to show that tempers really do flare all the time when stress reaches a certain point. In health care buildings especially, tension and stress is almost always high. Theres a reason that Doctors and other high class citizens also have a high suicide rate.
Still, to go to the point where you physically assault someone out of anger is definitely going too far. These people are no longer kids, bullying people with superior numbers.

It sounds more like crazy people to me than anything to do with their profession tbh, nobody should take this kind of actions regardless of the situation.
