The Watly machine, created by a spanish-italian iniciative, operates capturing photons through photovoltaic panels and store it as electric power inside a internal battery. The device use graphene based filters to produce clean water, and can provide around
5000 liters of safe drinking water daily. The battery also powers an internal wireless
modem that gives access to internet within a 800 meter radius, and a charging station
for electronics newfangled stuff.
Is currently tested in Ghana and the main purpose is to boost development across rural
areas of Subsaharan Africa. The team hopes that it could lead to a surge of economic growth by helping local entrepeneurs and business in general to thrive. The team will
install 10000 watly units across Africa over the next eight years, and they estimate that
could lead to create 50000 jobs.
