In a New York Times Magazine profile, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he regretted his decision to retweet an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz that set off a series of blows with then-contender Ted Cruz. The night of the tweet, he allegedly checked Twitter, as he frequently did when “he felt the passing urge to ‘knock the crap out of’ somebody.†The tweet compared Heidi to Trump’s ex-model wife Melania. The action led to a public debate over Heidi’s attractiveness—and whether the conversation was sexist—followed by a National Enquirer story that accused “Lyin’ Ted†of cheating. In The New York Times, reporter Robert Draper writes that Trump came “to regret his decision to retweet the Heidi Cruz photo that night,†which “had dogged him for weeks.†Trump said, “I could’ve done without it. Some people were offended.â€
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

I guess it's great that he has realised his mistake and apologised for it. Sadly, the fact remains that he still attacked his opponent's wife, which is very low. But yes, adding fuel to the fire, Ted actually started all this as well by posting Melania's picture in a tub. In that sense, they're both in the wrong. Spreading smear campaigns against your opponent isn't really the best way to win voters.
But sadly, this has been going on for all election periods already. So for the voters, focus on the candidate himself and what he can do for the country. Set aside all these issues and do not be swayed by such propagandas.
Whoever wins though, I hope he keeps his promises during the campaign period. That's all we want, really.

Now that he's running for president for real, he has to fix the shitstorm he created. Recently he also apologised about his choice of words that his voters so fervently adored, and went so far as to befriend a female reporter Megyn Kelly, who he viciously insulted.
He realises that the time for abbrassive speech is gone and over, now he needs to become diplomatic, and it seems he's becoming too diplomatic...in one other statement he said he wishes to open a dialogue with N.Korea to mend their relationships and open more commercial routes with China, US's largest competitor.
