The parents of a two-month-old baby girl are facing charges after the infant was left unattended inside a hot vehicle in Markham, Ont. earlier this week, police say.
York Regional Police say they responded to a call from a “concerned citizen†on July 19 regarding a baby who had been left unattended “for at least 15 minutes†in a hot car that was in a Toronto-area Costco parking lot.
Police broke the window of the car to rescue the baby, who officers say was showing “signs of distress.†The little girl was treated by paramedics.

There is no excuse what so ever as to why a parent would leave a baby or child in a car, I don't care if it was cool outside. Some situations are OK, like if you're loading the car up and needed to run back in the house to get some stuff.
I have heard so many stories like this, there was a woman who went to a super center and left the baby in the car. Her excuse was that she forgot she brought the baby along for the trip.
Another woman actually left her child in the store, she went home, unpacked her groceries, and then remembered that she left her daughter in the store. She called them, and the police had already had the child in custody, the mother told the store that she left her daughter and was coming back to get her. She got arrested when she arrived.

In every one of these cases I want to hold the parents, shake them and maybe give them a few slaps (to wake them up???) and say.....what the hell were you thinking???
I just can't comprehend it.....leaving a child unattended in a car, and worse yet a 2-month old baby?
to go shopping of all things?????? >

doesn't matter the weather......take the child with you or don't run the errand.
the has been happening so often and it's been all over the news and the police are constantly warning people not to do it.....even with pets on very cold/hot days
and still idiotic parents continue to do it

I have never understood this either and it makes me very mad. >
I understand that there are a few rare cases where a mother may have post pardum and may not be fully aware of what she is doing, but in most cases when that happens, she or someone else is aware that she's unwell before it gets to the 'left the baby in the car' stage, and someone should be helping her out at home in that case.
But I would think that 99/100 times, it makes no sense. I am even checking for my mother's cat's tail when I got out the door to ensure I don't pinch it even though it is not my cat, and not my house! How do you forget a baby????

It never ceases to amaze me just how stupid some parents can be. Everyone knows the risks associated with leaving an infant child unattended anywhere, let alone in a car on a hot day. How stupid can someone get? I think those parents don't appreciate the gift that they were given and they deserve to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. >

I guess you can leave a child in a car as long as the air conditioner is working well and you're about to go for no more than 10 minutes. Sounds like nothing wrong can happen. Anyway, you had better not to. I've read a lot of stories about all those reckless parents and they make me sick.
