ROCKLIN, Calif.— The headaches were excruciating and wouldn’t go away. Her doctor said they were migraines. Then, one morning a few weeks later, Jamie Hancock stood up from the couch and discovered she couldn’t move the right side of her body. When she spoke, her speech was slurred.
At the hospital, doctors told her she was having a stroke. The 32-year-old Hancock, whose children were just 1 and 3, had a sobering epiphany: “My whole life is changed forever.â€
Now, six years later, no one would know she is a stroke survivor. A lifelong dancer, she is fit and muscular. She speaks clearly and walks quickly as she shuttles her kids around, runs errands and teaches dance classes.

Well this is certainly a sad and worrisome health trend that we have here, and to be honest I was not really aware that the numbers were signifying this. You would like to think that as we age and develop better knowledge and technology the opposite would be the case, but I guess you never know with medicine and the human body. I am curious now to see some more numbers, so I might go digging around a little bit. Thanks for sharing and for sparking my interest.

I always feel scared for what can happen to me or my parents in the future, diseases are things that we can not really predict and therefore, we have to wait for them to come, unfortunately there's no way to know when anything is going to happen to us, but that's how life works, that's the human being's nature.

I am under the age of 35 and in the past two years I have had 2 friends who have had a stroke. These people are around the same age as me. I also have a friend who had a heart attack. Strokes are a very scary thing as you do not know how badly you will be affected or if it will be permanent. Luckily for my friends both of them have recovered in full. The doctors said their age helped in recovery efforts. It is important to watch what you eat and do not smoke or drink excessively. However, even with taking precautions like this the possibility is still there, scary stuff!
