According to a new survey commissioned by the Council on Foreign Relations and National Geographic, college students and recent graduates are largely uninformed on world affairs. “The survey...revealed significant gaps between what young people understand about today’s world and what they need to know to successfully navigate and compete in it,†the document states. For example, just 34 percent of respondents knew that more Mexicans are returning to Mexico than leaving the country to enter the U.S. Additionally, only 30 percent could identify the legislative branch as the one that is charged with declaring war. One of the few “heartening†aspects of the survey results, according to CFR and National Geographic, was that 84 percent know an increase in greenhouse gases is believed to be a major cause of climate change.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
