for the whole year - or however long you want to be off work.
the first 17.5 weeks is defined for your employer should they want to apply a "top up" to the 55% up to another max - sometimes 70 or 80%. after that period is over..the top up is done and you are just basically on the dole or EI for the remainder of time.
