It's a big day for those who support the proposed rail deck park, a green space that would be built in the air above the downtown rail yards.
For the first time, city councillors will have the chance to weigh in on the 8.5-hectare park proposal, which will cost the city at least $1.05 billion to build.
At Wednesday's council meeting, councillors will be asked to set aside $2.4 million to pay for the initial planning and design of the park.
They'll also be asked to designate the rail corridor as parkland.
Trinity-Spadina councillor Joe Cressy, who has championed the park since it was first proposed over the summer, is confident that the project will be given the green light by council.
"It's supported by people from east to west, north to south, and people from all across the political spectrum," said Cressy, pointing out that Mayor John Tory's executive committee approved the $2.4 million demand unanimously.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

well sure. everybody wud use it.
and wat deh shud do at the same time is to figure out how to put the Gardiner under deh with the trains...and build park on top of dat too
dat means deh wud have to drop the Gardiner to ground level..like the Lakeshore road..have them both under the proposed park.
or they cud move the Lakeshore road to the waters edge, leaving all that space where Lakeshore now is for the Gardiner period
Queens Quay cud become Lakeshore too and forget making another road. let people walk, skate and ride there period. use subway and street cars to get there and back out/in homewards
